How to Reverse Insulin Resistance!

Are you insulin resistant?

How would you even know?

Believe it or not, 90% of the population has some form of insulin resistance.

And did you know; that insulin resistance is the leading factors of type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, high cholesterol, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, alzheimers, Parkinson’s and so on.

In fact, all metabolic, hormonal and neurodegenerative diseases stem, first and foremost from insulin resistance.

So what is insulin resistance?

For starters, insulin is a hormone that facilitates the transport of blood sugar (glucose) from the bloodstream into cells throughout the body for use as fuel. In response to the normal increase in blood sugar after a meal, the pancreas secretes insulin into the bloodstream.

With insulin resistance, the normal amount of insulin secreted, is not sufficient to move excess amounts of glucose into the cells – thus the cells are said to be “resistant” to the action of insulin. To compensate, the pancreas secretes insulin in ever-increasing amounts to try to maintain the blood-sugar movement into cells but is unable to do so. Creating a huge imbalance and the eventual shutting down of insulin production, which is type 2 diabetes.

Because insulin is one of our “major” hormones, it’s also impossible for your body to balance its “minor” hormones (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone among them) until your insulin metabolism is balanced first. Thus the reason that insulin resistance is behind so many health problems.

The reason insulin resistance is such a common health issue, is due to a high carbohydrate and sugary diet. Insulin resistance is basically carbohydrate toxicity or sugar overload. When we ingest way more carbohydrates (which turn to sugar/glycogen in our body) as well as sugar, than our body can possibly process, insulin resistance occurs.

If you where born in the 60’s, 70’s 80’s and 90’s; you where brought up mainly on pre-made, package products. The quick and easy era, since most families needed a double income to keep up with society.

We no longer had mom at home full time to make us raw, natural foods from scratch.

The average pre-package product, contains more sugar in the form of fructose, which is 10 times more destructive than simple white sugar, as well as over exceeds most daily carbohydrate needs.

And here’s the real kicker!

If like me, you where fed baby formula extensively, than you would have gone into insulin sensitivity leading to insulin resistance; and you would have stayed there the rest of your life; unless you consciously put your body into nutritional ketosis (see below).

Corn syrup, also known as high corn fructose, the number 1 leading cause of type 2 diabetes, Sugar may be bad, but fructose is far worse!

And don’t even get me started on the rest of the toxic ingredients. Notice the bottom says no dairy ingredients! So if there is no milk whatsoever what is the point of feeding this toxic sludge. We’d be far better off making a more highly nutritious bone broth soup.

Any how, as you can see there are lots of reasons why most of us struggle with this issue and all the health concerns related to it.

If you aren’t sure whether you are insulin resistant, please read through this list of common symptoms.

If you have at least 2-3 of these symptoms you are probably insulin resistant to some degree;

  • Chronic fatigue regardless of amount of quality sleep.
  • Inability to sleep fully through the night. Frequent trips to the bathroom or sleep apnea.
  • Emotional stress around eating. Irritable when food is missed or haven’t eaten enough.
  • inability to lose excess weight around abdomen, no matter the amount calorie reduction or exercise you do.
  • Dry, irritated and weakening eyesight, more sensitive to bright light along with poor night vision.
  • Weak digestion, may be prone to bloating and gas or acid reflux and heartburn.
  • Mid afternoon energy slump is extreme, can barely make it through the work day. Eating sugar alleviates this but only temporarily.
  • Blood pressure lower than normal, with high triglyceride levels, high LDL levels (the bad cholesterol) and low HDL (the “good” cholesterol).
  • Cravings for something sweet or for more food, shortly after eating a full meal. Insulin resistant people tend to have a massive appetite! Their eyes are bigger than their stomach syndrome. 
  • Chronic water retention/oedema, especially in the hands and feet.
  • Chronic aches and pains, especially after rest. This often indicating some form of arthritis or joint inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a sign of high insulin levels, triggered by excess glycogen/sugar in your system.

If you have all or most of these symptoms, I highly suggest making some changes to your diet and lifestyle immediately!

So how do you start to reverse your insulin resistance?

The Difference Between Healing and Curing!

Is there a difference between Healing and Curing? 

We all know that our body can HEAL itself, but how does it do this and what is required to help ourselves fully heal?

If healing isn’t enough, what does it mean to cure?

Everyone is looking for a “CURE” for disease, but what does this really mean?

For most people healing and curing are one and the same.

However, they are not, and they each require completely different modes of application in order to achieve them.

Let me explain.

As a Dynamic Physician aka Doctor of Medical Heilkunst, my ultimate focus is to support my clients journey toward health freedom. 

Health freedom, is different for everyone.

To the majority of people, the removal of annoying symptoms or improved energy is often all that they feel is required. Yet is this really healing and curing?

Is the simple removal of symptoms really restoring full health?

If you look at 10 people, who all have similar symptoms, such as; low energy, random body aches, poor digestion, mood swings; the underlying CAUSE for each of their symptoms will be as varied as the individuals. 

For instance, one could be suffering from extreme low Vitamin D, another from deep unresolved emotional trauma and another may have a combination of chronic poor nutrition along with numerous physical trauma’s that have overloaded their life force, making it impossible to be free from symptoms.

Yet all will be manifesting similar symptoms! Why? Because each person’s body will trigger the necessary symptoms to express what it needs to solve that particular problem.

So the key to true whole healing, is not just about getting rid of the symptoms. It’s about finding the unique underlying cause that is triggering those particular set of symptoms.

We are all unique and require different healing and curing techniques in order to restore full health!

the difference between healing and curing

To heal, is to rebalance the physical, energetic body so that the outer symptoms resolve.

Healing is about restoring, replacing and rebalancing through the act of removing what is blocking the life force, OR, by adding what may be deficient or missing. For example, if all of your symptoms are due to being deficient in Vitamin D, by replacing this nutrient in the right amount and over time, your symptoms will all resolve.

Seems simple and obvious enough, however; If all of your symptoms DO NOT go away, then there is a deeper underlying cause that has not been addressed.

To cure, is to remove the true underlying STATE that is causing the outer symptoms.

Curing, is the act of uncovering the true cause of one’s symptoms and removing it with natural medicine that can act according to the law of similar resonance. (Because, no two similar disease states can reside within the life force at one time. Aphorism 36-37 Organon of Medicine, Dr. S Hahnemann)

To further help explain the difference; lets say that you are outside working for several hours on a hot Summer’s day; and all of a sudden you feel weak, nauseous and develop a headache. In other words, you have developed heat/sun stroke. So you go inside, get some fresh water, lay down in the dark with a cool cloth on your head, rest and recover. The next day all of your symptoms are gone and you feel back to normal. 

You had an imbalance due to being over heated and dehydrated and you corrected this by applying what you lacked and your life force restored balance. There was nothing blocking your life force from healing you fully!

Now let’s say you go hiking in the desert and you get lost for several days. You are exposed to extreme hot and cold conditions, you are fearful and stressed, and have been without food or water for longer than your body can handle. You are near death and miraculously are found. You go to a hospital, they help replace lost fluids and nutrients, you rest and begin to recover. Your life force is hard at work trying to make everything the same as it was before. 

However, this isn’t possible, because the damage is much deeper than your life force can handle. It doesn’t have the skills or ability to remove the cellular damage done to your organs from serious lack of water, nutrients and extreme temperatures; as well as the deeper emotional and psychological trauma caused by this incident. There has been an impingement too big for your life force to overcome on it’s own. Only a medicine acting by the law of similar states can help with this.

This is where the true removal of the underlying diseased states is needed to trigger the Cure.

Once the underlying cause has been removed, then and only then will the life force be able to fully restore the physical body back to full health.

Once the true underlying cause/state that is triggering the outer symptoms is removed, then full healing can occur.

True health freedom, by way of healing and curing is not always clear. Yet, if one is willing to do some objective reviewing and some deeper digging for the underlying causes and triggers; then whole healing can begin.

In conclusion, if you are struggling with symptoms and you feel like you have tried everything; changed your diet, added super nutrients, had body work done repeatedly, rested, worked on changing your mental and emotional wellbeing, YET, you are still struggling with symptoms – then you haven’t released the true cause!

  My Favourite Tools to help Boost Your Immune System

~ Ingest high quality anti-oxidants. By either eating lots of healthy super fruits like; blueberries, raspberries, goji berries, blackberries. Or, in supplement form like Forever Green’s – “Aim“, “Azul” or “ImmuneEyes”. Each of these are in a whole food form supplement. 


~ Take a minimum of 50 billion/day of a quality multi strain Probiotic, to boost the healthy bacteria in your digestive system.

~ If you or your body is really rundown and exhausted, a high quality, natural form, B vitamin like Solarstrips, will re-energize you!

Vitamin D is a must for us in the chilly, grey north, I recommend a minimum of 4000 mg per day during the winter months. You can also purchase a Natural Sunlight lamp to use daily.

~ Try taking an immune boosting complex such as; “ImmuneEyes”Colostrum, or Mushroom blends.

~ Eat and drink lots fresh, organic and GMO Free vegetables, to ensure a higher potassium and a nutrient rich diet. 

~ Eliminate congestive foods like Sugar, Dairy and Alcohol!

~ Oligotherapy – A natural antiviral and antibacterial, is silver colloidal/AG water and can be used early during an acute illness by taking a teaspoon every few hours. Other colloidal minerals that are great to have on hand are Cuprum-CU, which is good for infections and inflammations and Gold/AU, which helps stimulate the bodies natural defense. You can take these in combination or singularly, by taking 6-12 drops of each in a glass of water daily.

~ Herbs such as Echinacea, Goldenseal, Oregon grape, Astragalus, Wild indigo and Picrorrhiza, all help to boost ones immune system. Herbs are a highly concentrated bio-chemical substance and as such should be used carefully and not in excess. The most effective way to take these, is in extract/tincture form; 8-12 drops in a small amount of water, several times a day.

~ Oregano oil can be taken directly on the tongue and will kill most infections directly on contact. Be prepared for it’s strong taste! *Please note that all herbs are to be taken for short periods of time with a break in between. They are highly stimulatory and if taken for too long can be taxing on your body and potentially create a disturbance.

~ Garlic, preferably fresh and raw, kills everything; bad bacteria, virus and fungus, but don’t expect too much intimate contact with your loved ones while taking it!

Some extra advice I give all my clients;

First, make sure that you are eating according to your own body ecology. Avoid foods that weaken your system, such as sugar, dairy, soda, alcohol and everything non self supporting, as these will only congest your body further, especially DAIRY. Add healthy green super foods like kale and broccoli, along with lots of fresh veggies and antioxidant rich fruits or supplements as mentioned above. Finding food sources that are grown close to home, will guarantee they are full of healthy enzymes. I always freeze a ton of local berries in the summer, so I have lots to use in the winter.

Second, De-Stress! Stress on any level, is one of the biggest factors in how healthy you will be overall. Learn to recognize what is causing you to feel overloaded and find ways to release this stress.

One of the easiest ways to lessen your stress daily, is to do some deep breathing exercises. Remember that it is the OUT breath that is the relaxing one, so be sure to make it longer than the in-breath.

Also, take a few minutes every morning and night to focus on one positive thought or aspect in your life that brings you joy. It doesn’t have to be very big or complicated, as long as it bring levity and joy to your heart when you think of it, is all that matters.

Try some gentle stretches or yoga moves during the day when you feel you are getting tense, these can help to reprogram your muscles to let go. Some people find that Tai chi or yoga help while others find more intense physical activity is necessary to discharge the tension at the cellular level. Do whatever feels right for you, any movement that is positive and life affirming is good.

Going and getting some physical body work, like massage, cranial sacral, Myofacial massage or Rolfing, will also go a long way to releasing held tension that can, over time weaken your immune system.

Aside from de-stressing, be sure to get proper sleep and hydration when you are feeling run down! Lots of water with lemon, warm or cold is beneficial.

Last but certainly not least, if you feel like you’re fighting an infection, try these homeopathic remedies. They are always a must in every natural healing pharmacy. Both are also in my unique dynamic combinations seen below in my winter survival kit.

Oscillicoccinum – is a great all around infection remedy, used for septic or sluggish blood and lymph.

Aconite and gelsemium are both great remedies for the beginning phase of most infections. Aconite is more directed towards when it feels like it has hit you quickly and out of the blue. Whereas, gelsemium is when you feel it coming on slowly and feel run down and tired with it.
